TCL, a Chinese producer of consumer electronics, has been collecting data without permission from mobile phones that have downloaded its free weather forecast smartphone app. This app has been downloaded more than 10 million times by users all around the world since it was released in December 2016.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is threatening to fire police officers if they don’t arrest enough people who adhere to spiritual faiths—including Falun Gong practitioners and Christians—according to a magazine that monitors religious freedom in China.

Chinese Hackers Target European Union Diplomatic Communications

The European Union is “actively investigating” a data breach after reports that hackers linked to the Chinese communist regime intercepted sensitive EU diplomatic communications.

By The New York Times alleged that for the past three years cyber-espionage operators associated with the People’s Liberation Army managed to access and download thousands of EU diplomatic cables.

The bloc’s Council Secretariat said in a statement to reporters that it is “aware of allegations regarding a potential leak of sensitive information and is actively investigating the issue.”

Congressional Members Urge U.S. President to Help Stop Suppression of Falun Gong in China

( Congressional members recently wrote to U.S. President Donald Trump, requesting that he raise the issue of human rights during his meeting with Chinese president Xi Jinping. They include House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, New Jersey Representative Chris Smith, and Florida Representative Dennis Ross.

Millions of practitioners have been negatively affected since former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. A large number of high-ranking officials involved in the suppression have been punished under Xi’s anti-corruption campaign, but the suppression continues.

Nancy Pelosi wrote in her letter, “But human rights are also integral to a fair trading relationship in countries like China that exploit prison labor, engage in other unfair labor practices, and stifle free speech and dissent.”

She said the poor human rights record in China has been monitored through bipartisan efforts in Congress since the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989.READ MORE...
